Now Available: Chromebook Accidental Damage Protection

We are proud to provide all students with a Chromebook through the District’s 1:1 Program. While Chromebooks are provided at no cost to families, proper use and care of the Chromebook is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian. To support this program, CVUSD is offering a Chromebook Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) program for families to eliminate the concern and costs of repairing or replacing damaged, or stolen Chromebooks.

The District recommends parents/guardians purchase this $25 device accidental damage protection from CVUSD. This fee provides coverage for common incidents such as cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged casings and liquid spills. The plan also includes one device replacement per school year for loss, theft, or irreparable damage.

Without accidental damage protection, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $100 - $200. For excessive damage or loss, Chromebooks have a replacement cost of $400 for the current model. 

Our goal is to ease parent concerns over damage to devices while in their child's care and continue to support a sustainable take-home program for our schools. Purchasing Accidental Damage Protection is optional, but highly recommended. 

The enrollment window to purchase Accidental Damage Protection opens on August 1, 2026, and closes on November 30, 2026. Program fees are non-refundable, and coverage remains in effect through July 31, 2027.

Without CDP Coverage,  Parents/guardians agree to reimburse the District for applicable repair or replacement costs within 30 days of reporting the incident. Additionally:

• CVUSD Technology Services does not provide fee-based repair services for District issued Chromebooks.
• Intentional or willful damage to a Chromebook is not covered under the Damage Protection Program.
• CDP claims submitted after June 1 must receive approval from the student’s school principal before claims can be processed.
